Nokia 6110 Navigator mobile phone packs similar specs as N95

The Nokia 6110 Navigator mobile phone seems to be as good as the Nokia N95, this slider mobile phone is quite similar really but the only difference is that the 6110 does not have 5 megapixels but instead has a mere 2MP, it does not have Wi-Fi either but other than this seems like a very good phone. The GPS capabilities is superb.

Take a look at the specs below and make your own mind up, would you choose the Nokia 6110 over the N95?

  1. as for me, the fact it doesn’t have wifi is crucial. without wifi i have to download all my maps over GPRS, which is not that cheap! i’m using my N80 now to download maps from public hotspots like FON (www.fon.com) while I’m on the move. works pretty well!

hell yeah!N95 is too expensive, and I like the shape of this phone better than N95.Wi-fi is not really a matter for me, I still have an unlimited access broadband internet in my office.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what happens if you are using the navigation system and you happen to have an incoming call at the same time?

I have been told that it will cause the navigation to “cancel out” and you will have to re-enter the destination details again once the call is over. Does anyone know if this is correct? – I would imagine that if so, this would be very frustrating.

Yes, I prefer N6110 than N95. Because of the battery, the form, and the color. But could you pls tell us how many color the original one got ?

Actually, you can sideload the maps from your PC, using the DVD provided with the phone or (for the latest maps) from the Route 66 website. There’s no need to download any of the maps directly to the handset itself using GPRS.

You can take the call, and the voice navigation will continue to prompt you, although the person you’re talking to won’t be able to hear it. Navigation and the call are handled simultaneously, although the voice guidance speaking on top of the conversation can make it a bit difficult to hear either, when it happens.

The 6110 Navigator comes in Black and White. Everyone I’ve talked to seems to prefer the look of the white model, although I personally think the black model looks good too.

“Are there any charges for using the gps?”

Using standard GPS is free on the 6110. There is an option you can enable which allows the GPS to lock on more quickly when it’s turned on – Assisted GPS or AGPS – and that costs a few cents each time it’s used, as it uses internet access.

However one of the advantages of the GPS on the 6110 compared with the Nokia N95 is that it works completely out of the box. Unlike the N95, the 6110 has voice navigation and automatic re-routing without any extra payments or subscriptions: N95 users have to pay to get turn-by-turn voice guidance.

This phone owns , I took the upgrade because I was overdue by like five months. Thank Goodness I have been to busy to upgrade the last five months…My previous two phones were cool enough 9300 and N70, I considered the N95…but as mentioned the 6110 is good to go out of the box the N95 still needed turn by turn and maps and blah blah…Thank goodness for NOKIA, if only my wife was this cool I could be even happier.

Thx 2 u guys, i’ve made up my ming and will opt for the 6110 : cheaper, better design, out of the box GPS.
NB : the Samsung G810 has a protected camera lense
