O2 are offering mobile technology to the theatre: Lord of the Rings ticketing box office

There is a brand new service which has been delivered by mobile giants O2 for West End hit movie The Lord of the Rings which is the latest in mobile technology to the theatre world. This is the first major commercial launch of a full scale mobile ticketing service which is pretty cool because it will allow you the customer too receive and access a show by using your mobile phone.

All O2 customers will get a service which will let you purchase up to 10 tickets for the stunning The Lord of the Rings production at a very good preferential rate of £25, the normal price would normally be £60 using a secured credit card transaction over O2′s Active Portal.

This means your virtual ticket will exist in the “my tickets” section of The Lord of the Rings mobile box office which is accessed by your loving mobile phone. The tickets which are all for Tuesday night performances will actually tell you your seat numbers and opening times plus it will have a unique barcode which can be scanned in and redeemed at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

To access the service, O2 users should text LOTR to 2020.
