Ofcom: Mobile phone numbers can be changed in only 2 hours not five days

New rules and regulations in from Ofcom means mobile phone numbers can be changed in only 2 hours not five days – The telecom’s industry regulator Ofcom have new rules which mandate when switching mobile network for all phones users.

Basically what this means is that instead of waiting the normal up to five days for your number to be transferred phones users will now have their number transferred for incoming calls within two hours.

These new rules which is great news comes into effect on the 1st April 2008 and the new rules state that this must fall to two days and will be reduced to two hours by 1st September 2009.

This is fantastic for consumers because it will make it quicker and easier for you to keep your number, Ofcom said “”These rules will make it quicker and easier for consumers to keep their number, thereby strengthening competition and consumer convenience,” and “It will also help protect consumers from the risk of losing calls if their old providers’ network fails.”.
