Widgetbox brings widget gallery to the Apple iPhone

The Apple iPhone is receiving a widget gallery which “extends the world’s largest gallery of widgets to the screens of millions of iPhone users around the world,” announced Widgetbox. As of immediately a range of widgets are available in the Widgetbox iPhone Gallery which include widgets for… today’s top ten most interesting flickr images, the popular Magic 8-Ball widget for on-the-fly advice, the Yahoo! News RSS image feeds, and the Fake Steve Jobs blog.

Widgetbox is apparently expecting its community of in excess of 32,000 widget makers and developers to optimise existing widgets and create new widgets for the Apple iPhone. For those developer and widget makers Widgetbox has created a short tutorial to aid them on how to develop widgets for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch handsets.

Will Price, CEO of Widgetbox said: “By hosting a new widget gallery customized for the iPhone, Widgetbox and the widget-making community are able to increase the reach and customization for messages targeted at specific audiences.”
