Of this mass of Aussie mobiles 4.5 million of them are 3G handsets, which is an increase of almost 200 percent over mid-year figures between 06 — 07, whilst during the same period fixed landline services fell off slightly from 11.26 million down to 10.92 million; this seems to be the way things are going all over the globe.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority 2006-7 communications report supplies the stats, and intimate that not for the first time penetration can achieve 100%+.
