Is Apple launching Mobile Me branded services to replace .Mac service for the iPhone?

Under: News, Other Mobile Phones
Date: June 9th, 2008

It is rumoured that Apple Me is going to make .Me Domain very interesting indeed, it has been reported a few times which we sadly did not review that Mobile Me was in fact discovered as service name in the new Apple iPhone firmware.

It is also said that Apple may possibly own Me.com; well the latest news is that .ME registry announces that the harsh rush for the new domain name extension is well underway. The bit we would like answered is if Apple are indeed launching ME branded online services which may possibly replace the .Mac service for the iPhone, will all other Mac computers than .Me names be valuable assets. Apparently more than 70 registrars spreading all around the world are already offering the .ME registration and that open Registration is expected for July 17th.

It will be on a first come first served basis and you will be able to apply for a .Me domain now until June 26th. The .ME extension does belong to Montenegro and a few other countries with awesome extensions (Togo: .to) they let companies sell domains for them.
