Mexico to gain Apple iPhone 3G via America Movil on July 11th

Apple, along with America Movil, the leading wireless provider in Latin America has announced the Apple iPhone 3G will be in Mexico on July 11th. America Movil will also bring the Apple iPhone 3G to their other Latin American operations such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cambodia, Central America, and the Dominican Republic later in the year.

The all new Apple iPhone 3G brings all the features of the original iPhone with added 3G networking, iPhone 2.0 software, which incorporates Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs numerous 3rd-party apps that have been built with the iPhone SDK, and built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services.

America Movil CCO, Carlos Cardenas says: “America Movil is entering an exciting communication phase with the launch of iPhone 3G. We believe iPhone 3G will add an even better network experience for our customers.”

While Apple’s COO, Tim Cook responds: “We’re excited to be working with America Movil, the wireless leader in Latin America. iPhone 3G is an amazing product and we think mobile users across Latin America will love it as much as we do.”

America Movil is the leading wireless service provider in Latin America and operated within seventeen counties in the Americas, and as of 31st March 2008, America Movil had 159.2 million wireless subscribers along with 3.9 million landlines, although based on EDGE and 3G testing’s actual speeds will vary by site conditions.
