The Sony Ericsson W595 Walkman phone is the second handset that has been revealed today, this mobile phone is a quad-band GSM handset with 3G plus HSDPA. The main features other than the 3G support include a 3 megapixel camera; the camera has NO autofocus which is a shame.
It has a 2.2-inch display with QVGA resolution, capable of showing up to 262K colors, the Sony Ericsson W595 music phone will come in different colours which are Cosmopolitan White, Jungle Grey, Active Blue and Lava Black.

Today I went to buy the w580 but was told by the salesman to wait for the release of the new w595 in October because he says that it is the updated version and that hopefully Sony has addressed the flimsey keypad problems of the w580.
With the imminent release of the w595, the price of the w580 is now relatively low (£69.95). So do I buy cheap now and stick with the devil I know or wait for the new unproven and undoubtably more expensive w595? More importantly can anyone assure me that the key pad will be more robust and will not break after just 2-3 months months?

Read above. $129.95 at 3. BUT the Skype and mail on 3 feature is not working yet!! I work for three in the main office and it will be working in about 1-2 weeks. I love mine. The BT feature with my car stereo is great for music and hands free. Awesome phone.
does W595 have msn?
Yes it does but it is not active just yet. All the software is already installed and it is in final stages of testing as is, Skype, email on 3. Email on 3 will be cool as once set up it will push your emails through to you like a text. So if you have gmail for example, or Yahoo mail it will send your emails right to your handset like a text.
So far I am very impressed with the phone.
At the risk of sounding cheeky… does the phone you have come unlocked when you got it on 3 as its quite new? I would really like to get this phone but know people who have had really bad experiences with 3, nothing against them. No one else has it on pay as you go in this colour! Thanks
Jungle grey is exclusive to 3. It’s funny because I wanted it in blue and went to another phone shop to see how I could get a blue one and then unlock it. No luck there as the unlock place wanted a minumum of £30 and said it could take a few days as the phone was so new…scraped that idea.
Nah, it does not come unlocked from 3. I am new to the UK (from Canada) and am amazed how many cell phones there are in use here and so many networks….good luck.
Oh, it has Windows Live Messenger….same as MSN? However there are a few features that are in the final stages of testing before the W595 will be able to run some applications…such as Skype, Email on 3 and Windows Live Messenger.
Personally I think its wrong that all these features are advertised but not “yet” up and running. I am told about 1-2 weeks from head office.

hi every 1 , today im so happy , i get to purchased sony ericsson W959 even though in the market not yet released but i order it from my hp shop , and finally get this phone by today …. this phone are awesome , the PRICE i get is RM 999.
And this phone , the DISADVANTAGE on this phone is when we capture photo , it not really like K series got shake proved. so the photo got abit blur , and also when we zooming we have to select the mode to the VGA. The worst thing is the 3G only 1 side , which is you can view another party , but another party can view you , due to the camera only got 1 side though .

hey i’m curious that if i buy this phone from a foreign country, like china, am i able to use it in canada by just putting the sim card in? or do i have to unlock the phone. Since i know most sony ericsson phones are manufacture in china, i’m hoping it does work in canada.

I got this phone about 3 weeks ago.
I love it!
I got it on contract from 3, and i’ve been with 3 for quite a while now and i’ve had no bother with them.
The Windows Live Messenger on it is good, and yes you can get facebook but it costs, can get bebo as well.
The only problem is the camera, no flash! And the camera gets blurred easily…
