We have had readers asking about SMS text messages in landscape mode as well as those over on the Apple discussions page; one person called dwholler asked the same thing.
dwholler asked is he missing something; text messaging does not rotate when rotating to landscape mode doing SMS texting.
Well dwholler, as far as we know this has never been possible. We agree with you that this is a huge oversight. One commenter replied to dwholler saying:
If you could pass it up the food chain (I’ve sent feedback already) there ARE those of us who don’t need to see the “hey, sup?” message they are replying to.
If I want to reply to a “what’s up” text, turning the phone sideways/landscape to type out a descriptive reply like “hey man, we’re over here at this place right now but we’re going to head to get some food at McDonald’s in a half hour” would be WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY awesome.
There are plenty of occasions, if not all occasions, where I would like to be able to do this, and it drives me NUTS not to be able to.
What about the people with larger fingers? What about the fact that it is a hundred times more natural and comfortable to type in landscape?
We will look into this but in the meantime do you know of any application that will rotate text messaging to landscape mode?
