During a presentation of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 at the CTIA wireless trade show, Ramanath Bhat, Sony Ericsson senior manager for application and product planning hasn’t ruled out opening up Sony Ericsson’s new “panel” user interface to other Windows Mobile handsets.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 runs an unusual overlay atop Windows Mobile with nine home screen panels which combines native Windows Mobile code with XML based Internet information.
Apparently, panels will be sold via stores such as Handango.com, and Sony Ericsson is to also allow some panels to become available for free.
