There are over 12 million Apple iPhone in the wild and those 12 million Apple iPhone owners have been hitting the iTunes App Store and downloading twice as many applications than songs during the App Store’s first two months.
At Apple’s press event last week, Apple’s big wig Steve Jobs stated downloads are now over 100 million, so if this rate continues it could mean the downloaded applications from the App Store could well reach 1 billion by the end of the App Store’s first year.
However as applications become a key selling area to Apple and more and more iPhone’s and iPods are sold that 1 billion landmark could well be reached sooner.
