Multiple options open for Sprint iDEN network

On Tuesday, Sprint Nextel Corp pushed aside market concerns that the Corp was suffering difficulties selling its iDEN wireless network, and Sprint Nextel Corp stated it had multiple options.

Dan Hesse, Sprint’s Chief Executive, spoke to a Goldman Sachs conference, saying: “We don’t have to do this. If we get an offer that’s compelling and delivering and all sorts of other things, we’ll absolutely consider it. If we don’t, we’ll hold on to it. It’s a valuable asset.”

Sprint has been looking at selling the iDEN network, which is an asset purchased via the acquisition of Nextel back in 05, however it has struggled to integrate iDEN, and some analysts have questioned if the purchase was a good idea.
