Government agencies can track BlackBerry data

The National Technical Research Organisation, the Intelligence Bureau, and the DoT have apparently carried out tests to track and monitor BlackBerry data.

Said tests were carried out on subscribers of some leading service providers that subscribe to Research In Motion’s Blackberry service; service providers such as Vodafone, Airtel, Reliance Communications and BPL Mobile.

According to reports, the tests not only testes communication between BlackBerry and BlackBerry but Blackberry to other mobile phones as well.

However, the DoT will not share the findings with any other service providers which include MTNL, BSNL and the two PSUs.
