Dump those iPhone Safari browser ads with this hack

Under: Apple iPhone, News, Phone Software Date: September 24th, 2008

You know those annoying ads that plague your online time while using your Apple iPhone’s Safari internet browser? You can actually quite easily get rid of them.

So if you wish to throw those ads into the bin just grab this small download and following guide and they’ll be gone like lightening. Doing this will block most known ads servers IP’s in the Apple iPhone’s host file.

Download a new hosts file to your Apple iPhone or Apple iPod Touch, and then make sure you’ve got OpenSSH installed on your jailbreaked iPhone or Pod Touch – next connect to your device with a program like WinSCP – then browse over to /etc/ - replace your existing hosts file with the new one, and restart your device.
