The Google phone: T-Mobile G1 lowdown

The much talked about T-Mobile G1 smartphone was finally announced yesterday, some know the phone as the Google phone whilst others heard rumours it was called the HTC dream or the Android G1 either case the T-Mobile G1 phone will be available in the US on the October 22, and will follow in the UK in November then the rest of Europe will see it early 2009.

So now we have the name and availibility sorted, here is a rundown of what to expect from the first ever Android smartphone. Let’s see if the G1 is really worth all the hype or indeed if it is a good competitor for Apple’s iPhone. You will find a 3.2-inch touchscreen HVGA display, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, WiFi, voice dialing, voice recognition and speed dial, 3-megapixel camera with photo sharing, trackball, pull out full QWERTY keyboard, full cut and paste option, MP3 player, full HTML email client, a host of preinstalled applications such as ShopSavvy, Amazon MP3 store, Google maps and many more.

Time will tell how the T-Mobile G1 will shape up to the iPhone its going to be interesting to see how many handsets they sell in comparison to Apple.
