Apple iPhone in Chine without 3G and Wi-Fi?

Under: Apple iPhone, Mobile Phones, News Date: September 26th, 2008

According to the South China Morning Post, China Mobile will officially launch the Apple iPhone 3G on its network soon but to comply with Chinese regulations will be stripped of some of its functionality.

Apparently the South China Morning Post cited a report from the Daiwa Institute of Research which stated that the Apple iPhone 3G will have its 3G and Wi-Fi services disabled on the Chinese model.

BNP Paribas analyst Frederick Wong, spoke to the South China Morning Post, saying: “Apple shouldn’t customise a model of iPhone for the mainland market, given that it only provides a standardised product to operators around the world.”
