Can developers for the Apple iPhone really become rich through their applications? Hundreds, maybe thousands of developers come up with the latest app hoping to score big time, to sell that perfect app through the iTunes App Store.

But the reality of it is very few indeed gain the wealth like that earned by the makers of the puzzle game “Trism” which earned $250,000. The applications market quickly gets flooded and prices plummet.

Developer Erica Sadun, says: “Yes, we have gotten some people rich quick. So does the lottery.”

And in reality the odds of striking it rich with the App Store are probably on par with the lottery odds. In reality the only people to make any real cash from iPhone apps is going to be Apple themselves due mainly to the 30 percent cut they take.
