Can BBC iPlayer work on Nokia N95? N96 has it

Under: News, Nokia Date: October 11th, 2008

We all know that the cool BBC iPlayer was launched on the stunning Nokia N96 and many are asking the question “Can BBC iPlayer work on Nokia N95?”

Like the source below we have also had emails via Phones Review contacts page describing how the new widget can be used on other Symbian series 60 devices like the Nokia N95. Well we can tell you after finding an article over on bbc.co.uk blog that the widget is not supported on any other device other than the Nokia N96, and this is clear.

The BBC has not got a special deal with Nokia or anything like it, it is all down to the simple fact that the iPlayer has not yet been experienced on any other device as of yet. Read the full article here.

“it is all down to the simple fact that the iPlayer has not yet been experienced on any other device as of yet.”

So I presume this means that the BBC haven’t tried it on other devices yet, so when will they try it or will they let the general public try it for them? I’m quite sure there are a number of people out there who would be willing to be beta testers for it.

Yes it can, I’ve got it on my N95 and it works fine…except you can’t download the programs yet due to DRM. Streaming works fine.

You can also use it on other phones, you just have to look in the right place(s).

Ah good old DRM is blocking it, can’t understand though why the BBC are protecting their shows with DRM when the shows belong to the TV licence payers, we paid for them!

Sadly we’re paying for the licence to watch, not own the content.

Yes this will work on a Nokia n95 8gb. You must stream via wifi and to do this go into your real player settings and ensure you set up to stream from your wifi modem.
I hope that helps some of you.
