Microsoft Business Telephony Update: unified communications software

Under: News, Phone Business & Stocks Date: October 14th, 2008

Microsoft plan to be the best in business telephony, the company said that they are planning to work on an update to its unified communications software.

The name is called “Office Communications Server 2007 R2” and the release at the moment is currently in private testing and may possibly be release sometime in February 2009, the new product will add things like group chat and screen-sharing technologies. According to Microsoft around half of Fortune 500 companies have at least one Office Communications Server installed, obviously they would not give anyone sales estimates or even say how many people are using the software to handle the telephony as opposed to simply for corporate instant messaging.

This is good news, we will obviously keep you posted right up until the release of the above, please sign up to our newsletter for updates. Read more about the above here.
