It is looking like O2 are going to set the Sony Ericsson flagship Xperia X1 up against the Apple iPhone to battle it out for the Christmas market, going head to head on price at O2 retail stores.

O2 has announced the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will have a price tag of £100 with a £35 per month contract, which indicates O2’s desire to move away from offering premium mobile phones for free.

However, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will be offered for free on a £75 per month contract, (so not moving away from, more like moving to more expensive tariffs). The Carphone Warehouse however will have the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 for free on a £45 per month tariff.
