Yes iPhoners, a software unlock of the Apple iPhone 3G is a little closer to becoming a reality according to word from the iPhone Development Team. They even produced a video demonstrating access to the baseband processor use by the Apple iPhone 3G.
The Apple iPhone 3G has proven to be one touch nut to crack though, as Apple apparently changed the baseband to make it more difficult to exploit. At the moment an iPhoner can unlock their Apple iPhone 3G via modifying the SIM.
However, the iPhone Development Team has been working for sometime on gaining a software unlock which could be downloaded and simply installed.
