Microsoft tries to swipe Verizon deal away from Google

Under: News Date: November 7th, 2008

Rumour has it that Microsoft is trying to steal a deal with Verizon Wireless away from Google, according to the Wall Street Journal. Apparently Microsoft has grabbed Verizon Wireless’s attention by offering then a better deal to allow their search services and advertising onto Verizon branded mobile phones.

TO sweeten the deal and make sure Verizon Wireless switch from Google, Microsoft is offering better revenue sharing along with a guarantee of “substantially higher” payments to Verizon.

For months now Google has been in negotiations with Verizon Wireless in a bid to make Google’s search engine the default search engine on Verizon mobile phones. Apparently, Microsoft, Google and Verizon were unable to comment on the matter.
