While at a developer’s conference in Sydney, Australia, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced Microsoft is working on a software distribution scheme. However, Microsoft has no intention to copy Apple Inc in any other way.
Ballmer rejected the idea of utilising an open source Web kit rendering engine, and during a Q&A session for Australian developers, Ballmer stated that Microsoft will launch the service soon and it will allow programmers to sell their wares direct to the consumer.
The Microsoft CEO said: “We debated long and hard before the [Professional Developers Conference] whether we ought to disclose some of the things that we’ve got in progress.”
