iPhone going to China? Apple iPhone engineer required for Beijing

Under: Apple iPhone, News Date: November 18th, 2008

There appears to be a single listing on the Apple career pages which suggest Apple has promised to release the Apple iPhone in China, this posting was made for an Apple iPhone Quality Assurance Engineer in Beijing.

Apparently Apple is looking to “to focus on international releases of our iPhone and iPod touch products for Beijing.”

The word is that since the Apple iPhone’s debut back in 2007, China Mobile has had multiple objections with the iPhone, along with resisting Apple’s original revenue sharing program. While Apple has negotiates the launch of the iPhone in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand, China still remains iPhone-less.

The engineer position listed represents a further step by Apple towards launching the iPhone 3G in China which has definitely proven to be one of the hardest markets to crack.
