Official: Motorola VE66 5MP Phone coming 2009

Yesterday Motorola announced their second five megapixel packing mobile phone the VE66, which is a slider design with WiFi connectivity. About a month ago several Motorola VE66 specs were leaked but now we have the official confirmation on what to expect.

The Motorola VE66 will run the Linux based MOTOMAGX OS, with a 2.2 inch colour TFT display, and incorporates a Freescale SCM-A11 500MHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and video recording in QVGA and Bluetooth.

Unfortunately the Motorola VE66 has dropped the rumoured 3G and only supports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE. The VE66 also has FastScroll touch-sensitive navigation wheel, which according to Motorola should allow you to browse through menus and content with improved speed and accuracy.

Still no word on price, but the Motorola VE66 is expected to hit the stores by the year’s end.
