Obama phone records viewed culprits fired by Verizon

Under: News
Date: November 24th, 2008

Verizon Wireless has sacked several employees for viewing the mobile phone records of the United States President elect Barack Obama, these employees were fired as a result of an internal investigation by Verizon.

The privacy breach of Obama’s mobile phone records happened several months ago and the breach was reported to Obama by Verizon, and Obama’s account has been inactive ever since.

Verizon has not stated just how many employees were involved. Verizon has placed all employees who had access to Obama’s record on leave until the investigation is over. The employees who were fired however had no authorisation to view Obama’s mobile phone records.
