T-Mobile G1 still under par as BlackBerry Storm storms ahead

The BlackBerry Storm has received a major operating system update just days after its release, while the Android T-Mobile G1 hasn’t really received anything major since its arrival into the big wide mobile world.

The T-Mobile G1 is somewhat plagued with usability problems and is Google doing anything about it? Apparently not, the G1 still suffers from crashes with text messages, won’t allow a G1-er to hang up after a call, and dies after four hours on standby apparently.

Isn’t it about time Google stopped concentrating on the G1’s Amazon MP3 Store and turned their attention to the problems at hand, or do they really want the G1 to fall so far behind par with the BlackBerry Storm that G1-ers become Stormers?

  1. I have a G1 and have never had any of the problems you refer to….

Admit that the battery life is poor, but dead after 4 hours on standby? Thats deffo not the case at all…

A post on a message board is worthy of news??? I have not had any of these problems on my G1 and there have already been 2 updates. Battery life improved after one of them though its still not great.

But even if these problems were real they pale in comparison to the problems on the Storm. I have watched two video reviews where the thing crashed. I went in a store and tried one and couldn’t even play with it because it took so long to auto-rotate or do just about anything else. If this update doesn’t fix those problems the Storm will fail miserably.

The G1 I have works wonders… most of my friends who own an Iphone… drool at what I can do with it… They are still trying to figure how to tether their phone. But then again.. I do create my own apps.. which is a breeze.

Oh yeah… and form openPR.com you have the following:

In the USA and Great Britain the first Android mobile phone (“G1” by T-Mobile) was launched successfully last October. Only in the USA 1.5 million people ordered this mobile phone within two weeks (for comparison: The first iPhone-version needed 74 days until the millionth mobile phone was sold.)….

So yeah usability problems with the G1…so for NONE

What is this guy talking about?? i have been able to hang up all my calls, my g1 last way more than 4 hrs on standby…. ive had it since day one and i havnt had a problem with it!

I have never had the problems listed in this article with my G1.

As for the storm, some of my clients have already returned theirs to Verizon. There is little comparison between them, the G1 just wins.

The G1 does have one glaring flaw for some users though, (not mentioned in the article) it does not sync with out outlook. I use a google hosted domain (free and works great) and have since ditched exchange so it is a non-issue for me.

I dont know what person wrote this review but he clearly has never owned or even touched a G1.

Yeah the battery life can go flat pretty quick but mainly when your searching the internet playing games etc, but what do you expect! its basically a laptop in your pocket and laptops will be lucky to last that long,i know my vaio wouldnt last 4 hours of continual use.

To that end the G1 is a great phone,i would recomend it to anyone Star Rating= *****
