Mobile arena swamped by Android smartphones in 09?

According to reports 2009 is going to be a big year for the Google Android platform with various mobile form factors sporting the operating system set to hit the mobile market in the year ahead.

This could mean bad news for Windows Mobile, Symbian and Palm. Motorola, Sony and Samsung will all be launched Android based smartphones in the next year and it could well turn into an Android war.

Samsung is expected to launch a touchscreen Android smartphone with a similar form factor to the Behold or Instinct in the 1st quarter of 09. While the Motorola Android is reportedly strongly integrated with social networking but other details are scarce.

Sony Ericsson, only recently joining the Open Handset Alliance is reportedly at the prototype stage but expects to launch on Android about the middle of 09.

    What about Samgung joinning Android? Right now they use S60 on the smartphones, will we see them moving to Android’s side?
