2009 could bring thousands of job losses in mobile industry
What does 2009 look like, well apparently for some mobile phone employees not too bright, and the word is that thousands of British jobs are expected to be lost across the expanse of the mobile phone industry in the first few months of 09.
The reason being speculated is the need to cut costs due to strong competition and the troublesome economic slowdown. Companies are using management consultants to advise where costs can be saved and a series of announcements are expected early in 09.
The UK’s 5 mobile phone networks, Vodafone, T-Mobile, 3, Orange, and O2 jointly employ roughly 45,000 people across the UK. Vodafone has already announced plans to cut costs by £1 billion.
