There were several things of interest at CES 2009 and one such item was the Powermat. Now you may just have seen this type of solution before whereby you can simply charge a device by placing it directly onto a mat without any wiring.

Basically you plug the Powermat into an electrical outlet and any device placed upon its mat gets charged. The Powermat uses induction to charge the devices batteries but just how long you need to leave the device in contact with the mat hasn’t yet been announced.

Apparently the Powermat can charge Apple iPhones and iPods, mobile phones, Bluetooth headsets, digital cameras, laptops, and just about anything that uses a battery.
