Motorola make more workforce cuts to save $700 million

Under: Phone Business & Stocks Date: January 15th, 2009

Motorola has announced yet more cost reductions to their Mobile Devices business along with preliminary results for the 4th quarter of 08 and will announce 4th quarter financial results on 3rd of February 09.

Motorola will also reduce workforce by 4000, which will include 3000 from the Mobile Devices business and virtually 1000 from corporate function and other units.

These workforce reductions are expected to take effect as of immediately and are incremental to the 3000 reduction previously announced in 08. These moves are expected to save Motorola around $700 million in 2009.

Seems like Motorola is struggling and its always the worker that suffers, I wonder if any of the high paid top slots have been given the push?
