So just why is the Palm Pre and webOS expected to be the Apple iPhone killer? Basically we don’t really know just what the webOS can actually do, and well the Palm Pre is the first and so far only mobile phone to use it.

There is speculation that the Palm Pre 3G could be an Apple iPhone killer because back in 1997, Jon Rubinstine, ex-vice president of Apple’s hardware and engineering left Apple and subsequently joined Palm.

Apparently Steve Jobs wasn’t happy on hearing Rubinstein had joined Palm with a view to develop a new smartphone. So could Rubinstein be the reason the Palm Pre is looked upon as the Apple iPhone killer?

Hard to say, and really who cares, as sooner or later someone is going to bring out a smartphone that will do better than the iPhone, although that could be Apple themselves.
