Video: WAP Push message vulnerability in Sony Ericsson phones

A new security vulnerability which targets the same way as the “Curse of Silence” is now exploiting a security hole in some Sony Ericsson mobile phones and allows a malicious attacker to force a hardware reboot with a text message.

Mobile Security Lab discovered the vulnerability that enables the attacker to remote reboot Sony Ericsson handsets via malformed WAP Push message, and furthermore that WAP Push message can be delivered through SMS text.

So far this vulnerability has been proven in Sony Ericsson W910i – W660i – W880i — K618i – K610i – K810i – K660i – K530i – Z610i handsets, and at this time there is no known solution to fix this vulnerability.
