Apple iPhone old firmware updates removal for more space

The problem with getting many mobile phone OS updates is that the bigger they are the more precious space they eat up on the phones hard drive. As Apple keep pumping out large updates for the Apple iPhone and Apple iPhone 3G it could be iPhoners are losing out on something like a gigabyte of storage space.

iTunes does auto-clean old update files so they simply sit there, but if you fell you want to clean up those files and get back that space, here’s how its done.

Find the folder containing the old update files… Mac OS X – Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates… Windows Vista – C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates… Windows XP – C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates…and delete them all and then empty your trash after…job done.
