UK London police initiate Text a Crime?

Under: Mobile Phones, News Date: February 9th, 2009

Ok, not sure what situation would need this particular way of reporting a crime but apparently now if you are in the UK and have a crime to report in London you can now report that crime via SMS.

Apparently sending an SMS crime report will not let the perpetrator know what you are doing but will alert the police and they will arrive at the scene of the crime.

Well that’s ok then, like if phoning the cops is going to get them there any quicker anyway. Apparently you can add 07940 500 500 to your contacts and this is the SMS police line. Now whether they’ll actually answer an SMS report before the crook gets away is another matter.
