Nokia has announced their applications store…Ovi Store which will begin operation in May and has apparently been designed to take things beyond the realms of other similar apps stores on the market.

Nokia expects the Ovi Store to offer its users more than just apps and games and will include other content such as images, audiobooks, widgets and podcasts, and apparently the Nokia Ovi Store will also be the fist social and location aware storefront.

As of March, original Nokia developers along with new developers and content providers can begin uploading their content to publish.ovi.com. Furthermore the Nokia N97 will be the first mobile handset to incorporate a preloaded Nokia Ovi Store client.
