Dev Phone 1 denied access to paid apps on Android Market?

Under: Google Android, News
Date: February 26th, 2009

It appears Google doesn’t like the Dev Phone 1, but it does bring many things that the stock T-Mobile G1 lacks. But one thing the Dev Phone 1 cannot do is enjoy paid applications from the Android Market.

Why? Well because Google has slapped a halt on the Dev Phone 1 from accessing any paid applications on the Google Android Market, which is probably due to the discovery by users that rooted handsets have access to hidden folders that store the applications.

This could mean apps could be pirated with ease so Google has disabled access for the Dev Phone 1. Although as these same developers probably have their own apps in the Android Market, maybe Google has acted wrongly in disabling paid apps for owners of the Dev Phone 1…we shall see.
