Was Palm Pre webcast just a dig at the Apple iPhone?

Yesterday, Palm and Sprint hosted a webcast on the upcoming launch of the new Palm Pre smartphone, however neither revealed anything new from what most already are aware of. They did confirm however that Sprint’s “Everything” individual and family plans will be available with the Palm Pre.

Unfortunately the two most important points on the Palm Pre where avoided; when with the Pre arrive and how much will is cost. Palm only said they expect the Palm Pre to launch in the first half of this year.

A couple of things are of note though; Palm’s Matt Crowley and Sprint’s David Owens point out that the Pre comes with a removable battery, and that the Pre allows developers to build “casual games on webOS 1.0 in what seemed to be subtle digs at Apple and the Apple iPhone.
