Yesterday Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Mobile App World was opened in an attempt to go head to head with the Apple iTunes App Store, and follows the licks of the Google Android Market is the bid for the application revenue stakes.

For some time now Apple has held the ground in the mobile app game, but that maybe soon change as more and more enter the mobile application arena. Nokia will open the Nokia Ovi Store in May, Palm will open the Palm Store on release of the Palm Pre, and then of course there’s Microsoft’s Marketplace for Mobile.

According to a post on sfgate, catching Apple in the app game will be no small task as since conception the Apple iTunes App Store has registered in excess of 800 million downloads and currently houses 25,000 applications which will undoubtedly continue to grow, and well it looks like everyone is suffering from a bout of “Apple iPhone envy.”
