KDDI and Sharp announce unnamed waterproof solar powered phone

KDDI and Sharp have announced the launch in June of an as yet unnamed solar powered mobile phone, and it is the world’s first waterproof solar powered handset according to akihabaranews.

Apparently this new KDDI and Sharp waterproof solar powered handset charges to one minutes of talk time or two hours of standby time after ten minutes of being in the sun as the handset has the solar panel embedded in its lid.

Unfortunately no other word on any details, but we are guessing this won’t be a smartphone or a power hungry mobile device. Personally I think that before announcing a launch of a handset they should at least give it a name but there you go.
