The final countdown to the Apple App Store 1 billionth application download is underway and apparently according to a post on Crave, the lucky person to grab the billionth download will also snag a bundle of Mac stuff and a whopping $10,000 iTunes gift card.

Also, research company Mobile Squared is helping cnet predict the crucial moment when that milestone 1 billionth app is downloaded, and according to unchecked calculations said apps will hit 1 billion on Thursday morning the 23rd of April on US time.

Apparently according to Mobile Squared, it took 6 months to reach 500 million downloaded Apple iPhone apps but the following 500 million apps have only taken 94 days.
