There has been a lot of chatter on the net waves about Acer delivering a smartphone carrying the Android platform, but it is looking like our buddies over in the United States will be waiting longer than expected for an Acer smartphone.

The word from gearlog is that the Acer phones are being held up due to some “snags” with US carriers, and as a result the first smartphones will not hit US shores until sometime in 2010.

Bummer, but it presumably means that the US will get an Acer smartphone at some stage while it is expected Acer will still release on schedule this year overseas.
