The word is that Microsoft has now completed work on Windows Mobile 6.5, which is their next version of their operating system for smartphones, but even though Windows Mobile 6.5 is now complete it does not mean there will be an immediate release.
Word of the completion of Windows Mobile 6.5 comes via a tweet on Twitter from the Windows Mobile Development Team which states…”For the record, Windows Mobile 6.5 is DONE… complete… looks really good IOHO and every bit functional.”
Even though Windows Mobile 6.5 is ready we won’t be seeing the first Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone until the fall as unlike laptop and desktop OS, Microsoft licences the OS to smartphone manufacturers who then customise it for their handsets.
