Sharp has announced the availability of their slimmest mobile phone solar panel, and is now available to mobile phone manufacturers across the globe for use in future mobile hardware according to an article over on akihabaranews.
The Sharp LR0GC02 Solar Panel is just 0.8mm thick and is thus the world’s thinnest solar panel. Sharp hopes to make the use of solar powered mobile handsets more convenient by producing this slimmer panel.
The Sharp LR0GC02 Solar Panel is only capable of outputting 300 mW of power though due to its extreme thinness which isn’t enough to power a smartphone on its own so would be needed to be used in conjunction with a more traditional Li-ion battery.
