iPhone OS 3.0: How to send MMS, it does work

Under: Apple iPhone, Phone Software Date: June 18th, 2009

iphone-os-30-how-to-send-mms-it-does-work

After downloading the long-awaited new Apple iPhone OS 3.0 software update we got pretty excited and had a play around, we will chat about MMS at the moment.

Many of you including ourselves went straight to the text message icon, have you noticed it does not say ‘Text’ anymore and now says ‘Messages’? The all new messaging is brilliant, you can copy and paste messages and then send to other people, you can even add images.

At first the sending of images did not work and came up with an error saying cannot send, well you will be happy to know that patients is what you need because you will be sent a message from 1010 saying that sending images has not yet been activated, then you get sent another message after a little wait saying “Welcome to MMS”, there is also an image within the message that says “All done picture messaging is ready to use”.

Please let us know if your MMS is working now or not.

Just loaded up the new software update and cant get mms or copy to work at all. No texts from 1010 and I dont even have the camera icon that people say should be next to the text box. IMO this should be ready to go and not a wait to use feature. You wait weeks for the update and it there is a delay for it to work??? BOGUS

It seems from what I can tell that the 3.0 update enables mms on the iPhone but it still wont work unless your carrier has it enabled at their end or something.
When it works theres a small camera icon on the left of the text field in the normal messages pages which u can click to add a pic etc.

Ok figured out how to set up with mms. I’m on o2 so may be diff for ur network. First send message MMS to 1010 then go into settings, network, cellular data network change APN to service ur on as I said mine was o2 so changed mine to payandgo.o2.co.uk on the MMS APN change to same as above. Turn off iPhone. Turn iPhone back on and that’s it u should be set up for MMS o2 sent pic conferming mms was now enabled hope this helps. My callender still looks same as before update anyone got the new version yet???

I’m so lost! pearl i followed your instructions but 1010 sent me a message saying $0.50 per message on your wireless bill. Is this what happened to you? i was under the assumption that sending picture mail was free. in addition i do not have a APN thing when i go to network however i do have a VPN. are these the same?
    Thanks!

    September 28th, 2009 | 12:03 amKi Love

I received a text messge from AT&T saying that MMS is now available (2 days ago). So I finally downloaded the 3.0.1 etc OS software (took forEVER) and it still does not work; no camera icon; NOTHING. I’m in Austin, Texas: United States, so my carrier is AT&T. They are supposed to be the KING of phones here in the US, so I must admit that I am a QUITE dissapointed! How silly.

OK, it works! I had to restart my phone again (it restarted by default after my phone went dead and I put it on the charger… Next thing I know I had a camera icon next to my text message area! I don’t know HOW to act now that I have pic mail once again! :-) This is too good to be true!

    Ki Love….. Thanks…..
I was so lost as well, it took almost two hours to download the update. And i still couldnt figure out how to send pics or saw the camera icon. So i read your post, cut my phone off, and there is was…..

Apple could have told us that…..I felt so slow…. but anyway!!!! Iphone has picture messaging now!!!!! YES!!!!! Now all i need is for them to get an update to have personalized text message tones. The default ones, are killing me.
