Will Vodafone buy T-Mobile to become biggest mobile operator?

According to an article on the BBC, Vodafone may be making a bid to purchase T-Mobile which if successful would make Vodafone the largest mobile phone operator in the United Kingdom.

The information comes via the Financial Times, which states Newbury based Vodafone is interested in acquiring T-Mobile, although it is said that regulators may well black any deal.

Currently, Vodafone holds 25 percent of the UK market with T-Mobile behind O2 with 15 percent. T-Mobile and Vodafone have however declined to respond to the report, but no doubt more will surface over time.
