Andrew Cheong director of Samsung mobile phones handed the top prize to Lau, who it is declared possesses the most Star qualities. The Samsung Star S5233 touch phones recent launch was the perfect opportunity to launch the Be a Samsung Star and Shine campaign in the hope to discover someone who possessed the Star qualities.
The search took place over three weeks and had almost 1,000 entries. The top 21 entries which had the most number of votes competed against each other in Red Box Plus, the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Local celebrities helped to judge as well as representatives from Samsung, Starbucks and Converse. Each finalist received a pair of Converse sneakers which they had to decorate, then they had to show off their other talents including singing and dancing to walking the catwalk.
Bryan Lau was declared the winner and received a Samsung Star S5233 phone, RM3, 000 in cash, a RM1,000 Converse cash voucher and also a RM500 Red Box cash voucher. The true qualities of the phone were reflected in the finalists with their talent, charisma and intelligence.
