The word is that Microsoft’s “Pink” smartphone will be Microsoft branded and sport a custom user interface on top of Windows Mobile 7 according to an article over on zdnet.

Apparently Microsoft has selected advert agency McCann Erickson to develop the campaign for the “Pink” project which will be targeted towards the Sidekick market.

The word is Microsoft will not allow 3rd parties to use its new user interface, and “Pink” would be made only by Motorola and Sharp who have manufactured Sidekicks before. But hasn’t Microsoft be denying all along there would be a Microsoft branded smartphone?
