Are Mobile Phones on Planes a Good Idea?

Under: Mobile Phones
Date: July 3rd, 2009

There is apparently much talk and debate on whether mobile phones should be allowed to work on planes during mid-flight, and there are many rumours on airlines possibly extending the network to their fleet of aircrafts.

dvice.com looks at the possible implications of allowing mid-flight mobile phone usage, and says many find someone chatting on a mobile phone in closed proximity such as a restaurant quite annoying, this could be due to that people seem to speak louder when using a mobile phone and would be the same on a plane.

But is allowing mobile phone use on planes a good idea? Does anyone know if they can actually interfere with a plane’s electronics? The advancement of technology is fine, but there was a time when people got along quite well without having to phone anyone during a flight.
