TerreStar has successfully launched their TerreStar-1 satellite, one of the largest commercial satellites ever to be deployed and should bring data service to mobile phones virtually anywhere across the United States and Canada.

On the 1st of July, TerreStar-1 was launched by Arianespace from Kourou, French Guiana, and the CTO of TerreStar, Dennis Matheson, says… “With the successful launch of TerreStar-1, we are redefining the mobile communications landscape.”

This sits well with the previous new that TerreStar is partnering AT&T to offer their service later on in the year, although what it will mean cost wise is yet to be confirmed.
